Continued from here, wherein John asked Zee for some help in contacting the spirit medium looking for Jessica's soul, and/or doing some complicated magic. Depending on how this all goes. I~~t also may or may not involve John being almost romantic, wut.~~

I see. Can't say it rings much of a bell, but people in magic circles are changing their names like they change sheets these days. [Not sure how she feels about this, she shoots him a glance.] Not too big on casinos these days. I usually turn them down in favor of cruises.

I'm used t'dealing with the ol' name shuffle. Pretty sure demons invented that game.

[After passing ahead of the people on the sidewalk substantially far] Might be a good idea for me t'give you a quick rundown o' the situation, by th' way.

Looks like th' angels and devils are bent on war, an' they've almost got the tools in hand t'do it, wiping most of us out in the middle o' their scuffling, of course.

Demons or magicians. It's hard to say.

They've already got their new tricks, that's th' problem, luv. Apparently, Lucifer's free to walk about wherever he pleases now, an' him and Michael are fighting to get their hands on two human skins to wear to th' ol' Apocalypse Ball.

Lucifer's already got his claws in the poor sod what's meant for him, and if someone doesn't knock some sense into th' boy, we'll all be payin' for it.

At least we know what they're after. It's going to make this a little easier.

Name's Samuel. Part of a family of self proclaimed hunters. Always types like them - go after demons, learn some incantation magic where it suits 'em. An' apparently part of the reason he's working for the First of the Fallen is because the old goat told him he could get his old dead girlfriend back out of the deal.

[Shrugs casually] So I figured, we find her first.

[Oh god, that is so predictably him. I don't know how I'd never heard of that appearance. <33 Love it. And how no one would really question him just showing up, because that's just what he does.]

Ugh. Those sorts never end well. If only because the other side never keeps their deal quite like they say they will. Kids today! Don't they read any mythology, fables, or legends? There's a reason it's a reoccurring theme.

If we're actually going to Hell - assuming it's Hell, since he's made a deal with 'em - I'm not sure how much use I can be. Last time I was rendered sort of... useless.

[I didn't, either. But I noticed him in the corner, then looked up the issue on comic book database and well, it's credited as him. I know he's made some appearances in Green Arrow in the past, too... Hm. But ahaha, oh man. John. :')]

It's especially irritatin' considering the kid's spent so much of his life dealin' with these types. Obviously didn't pick up much in all that time.

And no, I'd never ask ye t'do that, Zee. Her spirit got lost, according to Michael. Trapped in between, somewhere, on the Spirit Plane. I did a bit o' travelin' there myself, but no one seems to have any word on her, and I couldn't comb the entire ether lookin'. Figured a medium might be exactly what's needed.

If we can get a hold of her, I doubt it'll take much convincin' t'get her to screw his head on straight. Most spirits don't take too kindly to their living loved ones sellin' their souls for them.

He must have loved her a great deal. Still, both of them will suffer if it continues the way it is.

You mentioned it, partially. But I wasn't entirely sure of the whole shebang.

[She places a hand awkwardly on her chest.] No. They don't. They don't take well to any stupid actions the living take in their names.

[Nods] That's the vibe I got when I talked to him 'bout her. [Oh so casually] I may have mentioned to him that I already had contact with her spirit. Which puts me in a bit o' a position to deliver, if ye catch my drift. That's why, if this thing with th' Third Grey doesn't work out, I'm gonna need me a Plan B.

[Glances over at her last comment. After a second, his hand reaches over to gently draw hers away from his chest, and he pulls it to his lips for a moment ~~like he thinks he's a gentleman or something~~] That's why we're gonna do what we can t'right this one.

Big talk, as always. Plan B, hm? If we look for people touched by him, then it could work out regardless. There is bound to be more than one person that can slap some sense into him even if it's a bit more violent or earth-shaking than a dead girlfriend would be. It might be easier to start off that way than looking specifically for her, considering that both sides seem to be unaware of where the girl is. --she might be amidst a reincarnation, even. Which... [A frown here.] Could be a problem.

[She feels a bit embarrassed. If it was anyone else, it wouldn't be as nearly a grand romantic gesture. Oh, maybe she's just a bit starry-eyed now. Maybe.] Alright.

Exactly. If he's a hunter, he's bound t'have a whole bunch of dead friends or relatives floatin' around. That's just th' way their lives go. Got a little trinket off 'im, anyways, so we've got somethin' to focus on. Had to tell him something to get it, which is why I had t'lie in the first place. He wouldn't have trusted me otherwise. Ironic, innit?

[He just squeezes her hand, and releases it slowly] Anyway, it's a short walk. Just up ahead, here.

So at the time, you were just grasping in the dark? You live so dangerously, John Constantine. [She smiles as she looks on forward, eyes darting to him for only a moment before settling on what's before them again.]

Mmm. [She lets her hand fall to her side now.]

[Smirks at that] Well, I'd hate t'disappoint.

And you rarely do. [She silent for a moment.] If we get this done quick, what say we grab a bite to eat while we're out?

[Glances over at her for a split second] 'Course.

Probably owe you a proper date.

[Even he'll admit, the word sounds funny coming out of his mouth.]

I didn't mean it that way, but since you're offering... who am I to refuse such a generous offer? [Strange, but sort of cute. In that terribly awkward sort of way. She likes it.]

[Covers a smile with a puff on his cig, but then pats his pockets absently as something strikes him] Er, 'cept ye might have to spot me some dosh this time, luv. [An almost sheepish expression crosses his face. Oops.]

I thought it was whomever asked the other that usually paid, yes? It's on me. [She puts a hand on her neck, messing with it a bit.] I know you wouldn't take advantage of me like that. It's nothing to worry over.

You're right, I wouldn't. Jus' didn't exactly expect t'be sticking around America this long, an' didn't come fully prepared.

[Nods up the block at the casino in question]

That's the one. We're gonna have to go through the back though. Not a lot of casinos I can get in through the front door around here anymore.

I don't mind being the one wearing the pants.

[She looks the place over. Just in case, she makes a mental note that there's a high chance there won't be a performance at this place any time in the near future. Just in case.] Of course. Unless you want to try a disguise. I've found I'm quite good at them.

Well, that's a figurative statement if I've ever heard one.

[Quirks a brow at that suggestion] Now's not a time fer the rabbit suit, Zee. [Small grin]

And a bit ironic, considering I rarely wear them.

As adorable as that was, I'm pretty sure you knew what I meant.
